Shooting All Over The City': 3 shot including a pregnant woman, Chicago

Two people, including a pregnant woman were shot in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, on Monday afternoon.

The victims, shot near the intersection of 53rd Street and Sangamon, were identified by family as 23 years old Crystal Myer and 25 years old Albert Moore, a couple expecting their first child. Family outside of Stroger Hospital said that the baby has been deliver and both parents remained in surgery

Police said that Moore was s a documented gang member. Andrew Holmes, a crisis responder, said that this was the second in as many days he has responded to in the neighborhood, and that he saw Myer in the neighborhood on Sunday.

Holmes said of Myer, “I remember this young lady who was shot today. She was here yesterday walking down the street crying, she is pregnant, so this is the same young lady that went into the house from yesterday and was hit by gunfire.”

Victoria Harden said that she found Myer in the street about 3 PM on Monday, called an ambulance and tried to comfort the woman.

Harden said, “I see the lady on the ground and her family, like any family, are screaming and panicking. So I just got on the ground and held the lady, she is pregnant, just talking to her and giving her some comforting words.”

Tyler Thomas, Moore’s grandfather, said that supposedly he has seen the person who shot the couple. He added, “I was upstairs and I heard the shots and I looked out the window and I seen some guy running across the lot … and when I got downstairs … they was shot”.
