Shootings In I-57 Injured Two

Two people were shot on early Monday while they were driving on to the inbound lanes of the Interstate 57 near the 115th Street on the city's Far South Side, as per the Illinois State Police.

About at 2:45 a.m., someone inside the black Dodge Charger shot at the car while the two people were in. The other passing vehicle then struck the car which had been shot at, said the police.

One person has been shot in the buttocks, whereas the other person has been shot in the lower back.

Both the persons were taken to the Advocate Christ Medical Center, said the police. The Illinois State Police did not have the information about the victims' ages, genders or the conditions as on the early Monday.

The two other people who were inside the car with the victims were taken to the Roseland Community Hospital in order to be treated for the injuries from the crash, said the troopers. No other injuries were reported.

The inbound lanes from the 119th Street to 111th Street were shut down on early Monday while the troopers have canvased the highway for evidence.the motorists were pulled over on the overpass to get a closer look at the sedan that had the visible damage from the crash.

Among the witnesses of the scene, was a 34-year-old man who was in the parking lot of a nearby night club when he had heard the five to six gunshots.

By the time he reached the area closer to the I-57, he saw the two people getting out of the car and also collapsing on the side of aroad.

He said that the shooting would not deter him from visiting the city.

"I was born and raised in Chicago.It's just another day,""he said.
