Iran's primary state-supported media quickly responded today to US President Donald Trump's choice to halt attacks on the Islamic Republic's power systems, suggesting it indicated uncertainty from the US. Iran hinted that it prefers to follow a strategy of deterrence instead of making concessions as discussions progressed slowly. Trump's announcement that the US would refrain from striking Iranian power generators and essential facilities for five days was met in Tehran's media with both mockery and celebration. The media outlet Press TV reported that there had been no communication for negotiations with the US, neither directly nor indirectly. They also mentioned that a top security official commented that Trump retracted the offer for talks because of Iran's effective military threats and the growing financial strains faced by the US and its allies. The official claimed that discussions were nonexistent and that psychological tactics would not restore stability in the Strait of Hormuz or calm energy markets, adding that Trump's five-day deadline only highlights ongoing attack plans, to which Iran would respond with comprehensive defense.

Mehr News shared on social media that the recent assaults on energy installations and Iran's reaction had "forced" the US to rethink its stance. Mehr described Trump's warning as "a bluff," citing the delay of US attacks as proof. Tehran Times insulted Trump, calling his approach a retreat disguised as diplomatic efforts. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB followed up with posts connecting the pause to Iran's military threats. It recalled that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed until damaged facilities were repaired, and also mentioned strikes on Israeli energy properties. IRIB suggested that Trump's pause was not a gesture of goodwill but rather a response to Iran putting the regional power grid at risk. Press TV stated that Trump had "retreated again," placing this five-day pause in a pattern of alleged reversals.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated on X that, "Trump and America have retreated again. The situation remains charged. Another loss for the devil. " The response from Iranian media showed a consistent message that their strategy of deterrence has been successful, that tensions would continue on both sides, and that the energy grid would remain a battleground. They did not refer to any "productive dialogues" that Trump mentioned. From a diplomatic perspective, the limited time frame created by Trump's pause makes it challenging to engage in structured discussions, especially with many issues still active and each regional player operating on its own timeline.
