Shivaratri is the most auspicious night of the year for worshiping the Lord Shiva. People do fasting and night vigil (Jagaran) on the night of Shivaratri. The devotees perform Shiva Puja with bili leaves(Aegle marmelos) and milk shower (abhishek).
Lord Shiva is one of the three major deities of Hinduism. He is known as Bholenath, the innocent one, because he is pure in heart and easy to please. Shiva fulfills the wishes of his devotees. He has three eyes, that indicates love, justice and wisdom or intelligence.
