Indian American Doctor accused of $1 million Fraud in Health care system

An Indian origin American Medico, was in detention in on accusations of crime, for grabbing about $1million in falsified Health insurance claims through his medical practice, said officials.
A NRI doctor named Dr. Pranav Patel aged 51 years, of Chicago suburb Burr Ridge, he was allegedly submitted fake insurance proofs for medical tests that were never performed and used some of his patient’s names, without their knowledge to submit such false proof while he owned the Palos Medical Care practice, according to the report stated by Northern District of Illinois, Attorney office on Friday.
Patel started his practice in medical profession in the year 2008, and was continuing till 2013, he fraudulently obtained at least $950,000 in payments from Medicare and Blue cross along with Blue shield of Illinois, the indictment said.
According to the statement in a report by Chicago Tribune, Patel was charged on seven counts of health care fraud and three counts of making false claims, in relation to the regard of health care and another two counts of aggravated identity theft.
The evidence of this incident was found in an instance when, Patel forged and fabricated a seven page medical record marks that a patient had come to the office for a follow up visit and examination, when the patient had actually come to refill a prescription, the report said.
His next schedule of visit was asked to be arraigned on May 15
