A Chicago man accused of domestic battery was arrested Thursday by Lake County sheriff's deputies and members of a federal fugitive task force, authorities said.
Gabriel Almazan, of the 6300 block of S. LeClaire Ave. in Chicago, had been wanted on multiple felony charges related to a domestic violence incident that occurred in an unincorporated area near Grayslake, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office.
A fugitive investigation by the sheriff's office and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service determined Almazan, a documented gang member, was staying at a relative's house in Chrysler Village, a small neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest side near Midway Airport, according to the release.
After conducting surveillance on the residence, task force members apprehended Almazan in the basement of the residence, the release said.
Almazan is being held in the Lake County jail on a $150,000 bond. He is next due in court on June 11.
