A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting on Wednesday evening at the Dan Ryan Expressway near Chinatown on the South Side.
Jeremiah M. Holt, aged 20, faces the charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, attempted murder and also aggravated battery with a firearm, Illinois State Police announced on Friday night.
Just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Holt got out of the vehicle on Chinatown feeder ramp off Interstate 90/94 and he fired into another vehicle on the ramp, said the state police.
Jeremy Scullark, aged 28, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 5:24 p.m., and the other man was taken to a hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening, said the state police and also the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Holt ran off from the scene and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, said the state police. Holt was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he remained under the police watch on Friday night.
Chicago Police officers, while pursuing Holt driving to the north on the Shields Avenue with lights and sirens activated collided with a vehicle which was heading to the east on 31st Street, said the Chicago Police.
