
A Blue line train fatally struck a 28-year-old man, who plunged onto the tracks from the platform, officials said.
According to CTA spokesperson Irene Ferradaz, the incident happened at about 11:50 a.m. near the Addison Station.
Blue Line service has been temporarily halted on the Northwest Side after a 28-year-old man was fatally struck by a train, officials said.
The 28-year-man, whose identified was not disclosed jumped onto the railroad when the train approached. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
After the incident, the Blue Line Services were halted. The passenger exited from the train and were moved to shuttle buses, Ferradaz said.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson , said the department was called for a person on the southbound tracks but did not take the victim to a hospital.
"We turned it over to the police,'' he said.
Train service was suspended in both the directions between California and Jefferson Park stations as the situation was being handled, Ferradaz said.
To cover the over passengers crowd due to suspended service, shuttle services were being offered between those stations.
