A police officer is out of job for shooting a dog. The officer from southwest suburban Hometown shot a German Shepard on Friday for which he was fired.
On Friday afternoon, the dog named Apollo ran out of his house. But he ran back into the yard when police reached him.
Nicole Echlin, owner of the 1-year-old German Shepard mix, said she called him back. But by that time the officer had taken out his gun.
According to Echlin, the police officer shot her dog when it bared his teeth at him.
The 6-year-old daughter of Nicole Echlin had witnessed the shooting.
