In light of limited playing opportunities in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arjun Tendulkar, the son of famed cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, secured one of the largest offers during the T20 Mumbai League auction on Saturday. Although Arjun has yet to take the field for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026, he was picked up by the ARCS Andheri team for Rs 10 lakh, which is a significant increase of 400 percent from his original price of Rs 2 lakh. Consequently, Arjun will earn one-third of his salary from the IPL with LSG. He is set to make his first appearance in the tournament after being approved to participate, even though he played for a different state association last season. Arjun had been representing Goa for the last few seasons after shifting from Mumbai. Nonetheless, the BCCI authorized his involvement in the league since he hadn't competed in any state league in the past year.

According to the BCCI rules for state associations overseeing T20 events, "To keep attention and avoid overexertion, each player may take part in only one officially recognized cricket league, aside from the Indian Premier League (IPL), during a year starting from the end of the tournament in which they last played. " The statement continues, "For example, if a player has taken part in a Twenty20 competition held by a State Association that finished on August 31, 2024, they cannot play in any other Twenty20 event held by another State Association until September 1, 2025. "

Arjun, who moved to LSG for the 2026 season after time with the Mumbai Indians, has been collaborating closely with coaches and experienced players to enhance his abilities. Having demonstrated his versatility in the domestic league for Goa, Arjun's recent practices indicate that he is prepared for the demanding atmosphere of the IPL.
