Michael Caine's father thought he was "gay"

Michael Caine is one of the manliest actors that we know today in Hollywood with several breathtaking performances. He is an academy award-winning actor with two Oscars for the best supporting actor in 1986 and 1999 for Hannah and her sisters and The Cider House Rules respectively. But Caine's father thought, he was gay, Michael tells.

"My dad was a Billingsgate fish market porter. When I told him that I was going to be an actor, he never said a word but I saw his face and thought, he thinks I'm gay. The theatre in those days was very gay. But I wasn't."

Michael Caine as we know today is a very different person with a very outward character but he was not the same in his tender ages. He was so coy that he used to hide behind curtains to avoid relatives.

"I was the shyest child. If strangers came into the house, I'd hide behind the curtains and wouldn't come out until they'd gone," the 80 year old actor was quoted as saying.

His performance in the recent Sci Fi movie, Inception was also heartrending. He believes in himself completely and attributes his success to the way he was brought up as a child which modeled him into the man with a royal stature he enjoys today.  "My three great achievements with which I had absolutely nothing to do are that I was born an Englishman, a Londoner and a Cockney."
