Chicago Dumpling fest, 2016 will be held in October

Dumpling lovers, get ready for Oct. 15. Baconfest will launch Dumpling Fest in Chicago.

Dumplings are one of the best things to have ever graced the planet as far as food is concerned. Chicago will have an entire festival dedicated to the splendid bites. It's named as Wrappers Delight. Dumpling fest is going to take place on October 15 from 3pm at AceBounce Chicago.

Already 14 restaurants are there on the roster competing for the prize of "The Dumpling d'Or," including Osteria Langhe and Lost Lake, among others. The definition for "dumpling" will have a global emphasis, only requiring the idea of "dough wrapped around a filling," which could include anything from potstickers to pierogi to tortellini. Tickets are $50 and include tastes of all the dumplings, three beers from Goose Island and a cocktail from Lost Lake.

As with Baconfest’s bountiful spread, expect ticket holders to pig out on all types of dumplings served by Chicago chefs. There will also be a music component, the 3-hour event, called “Wrappers Delight”, will feature a soundtrack of "old school hip hop,” according to a fest press release.

Seth Zurer, co-founder of both festivals said, “For me, personally, I love dumplings,’’ .

At the event, chow down on dumplings from more than a dozen Chicago-area chefs, plus sip Goose Island beers and a cocktail from Lost Lake. Ping pong tables, paddles and balls will be at the ready, while music will be provided by DJRC, also the DJ of Baconfest.
